Ruth Reichl is Editorial Advisor to Gilt Taste and Editor at Large at Random House. From 1999 to 2009 she was Editor in Chief of Gourmet Magazine. She began her career as restaurant critic for New West and California magazines, and went on to be the restaurant critic and food editor of the Los Angeles Times. From 1993-1999 she served as restaurant critic for The New York Times.
